Tom Corfman is a senior consultant at Ragan Consulting Group with more than 30 years of experience spanning journalism, media strategy, and law. He began his career as a civil rights litigator and white-collar defense attorney before transitioning to journalism, where he became managing editor of The Chicago Reporter, an investigative publication focused on race and poverty.
Tom went on to hold reporting and editorial roles at Crain’s Chicago Business and the Chicago Tribune, covering politics, health care, real estate, and business. At Crain’s, he served as assistant managing editor in several key areas, including government and politics. His investigative reporting has exposed corruption and influenced public policy across industries.
From 2017 to 2021, he led communications for the Cook County Treasurer’s Office, managing media relations and public messaging under Treasurer Maria Pappas. Since joining RCG in 2021, Tom has worked with clients across sectors to sharpen their storytelling, elevate internal communications, and strengthen brand journalism strategies.
Tom combines the rigor of a lawyer, the curiosity of a reporter, and the insight of a seasoned editor to help organizations tell stories that matter.
